The Nicole McLaurin Private High Scholarship

We are proud to announce the fifth year of our Nicole McLaurin Private High School Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to recognize the outstanding achievements of current eighth-grade students who are transitioning to private high schools.

Choosing the right high school can be challenging; affording a private school can be even more so. The scholarship contribution is $2,500.00 and will be awarded by a WOLCS board member to an eighth-grade student who has been accepted into a private high school at the time of graduation, helping to offset tuition costs for the 2026-2027 academic year.
 
Eligibility
  • Applicants must be eighth-grade students at West Oak Lane Charter School.
  • Applicants must be accepted to a private high school.
  • Applicants must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
  • Applicants must submit an essay as described in the application requirements.
 
Application Requirements
Please submit only one application; incomplete applications will not be considered!
  • Scholarship Application Form (printable PDF below)
  • Personal Statement (up to three pages, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins) Please describe yourself, your interests, as well as how your WOLCS experience has prepared you for high school.
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (according to the enclosed outline).
  • Apply before the indicated submission date. March 27, 2026
  • Applicants must personally accept the scholarship award at the 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony.
