Education and experience:

  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania academic content standards
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design and delivery, teaching and learning for individuals and groups.
  • Skill in selecting and using appropriate instructional methods and materials when teaching new subjects.
  • Ability to monitor and assess students’ performance to identify areas for improvements and to remediate when appropriate.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, administrators and other members of the school.
  • Pennsylvania Certification K-8, Special Education (Instructional I or II) bachelor’s and or master’s degree in education preferred.

EXCEPTIONALLY COMPETITIVE BONUS up to $5,000 with required certification.

 

Dean 3rd-5th grade level

West Oak Lane Charter School is looking for a Dean of Students for our 3rd-5th grade level students for the school year. 2025-2026.

Position involves coordination and oversight of discipline program at West Oak Lane Charter School. Conducts behavior intervention activities with groups of students and individuals. Consults with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions. Assesses disciplinary policies and procedures and other internal and external factors that impact student behavior and/or learning; and identifies appropriate interventions and supports.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Counsel students regarding educational issues such as school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and planning for secondary school by employing effective and strategic measures.
  • Counsel students and parents / guardians to help students understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their academic progress.
  • Mediate interpersonal problems between students.
  • Administer, coordinate, or recommend disciplinary and corrective actions.
  • Communicate with teachers and other staff to develop appropriate interventions and supports that address the needs of individual students and resolve individual problems.
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation, and meet timelines in regard to related administrative reports, and provide timely communications to parents, teachers and administrative team.
  • Provide or refer students for crisis intervention when appropriate.
  • Assist with lunchroom supervision and bus monitor/dismissal program.
  • Assist in developing school/community partnerships that serve as interventions or resources in the areas of mentoring, discipline and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain professional competence through appropriate professional growth activities.

Education and experience:

  • Minimum of five years' satisfactory related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university. Master’s degree in the counseling field with certification preferred.

 

Assistant Principal K-2 grade band

West Oak Lane Charter School is searching for a vibrant, driven, talented and team-oriented administrator to serve in an Assistant Principal role for our K-2 grade band.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who works well with team dynamics, is committed to their own growth and development as an instructional leader, and is dedicated to the development, achievement and overall well-being of students and staff.

The Assistant Principal (AP) is a critical member of the school’s leadership team, responsible for supporting the Principal in achieving the school’s academic vision and instructional goals. The Assistant Principal is responsible for execution and implementation, ensuring alignment with the Principal’s vision and directives. The role requires strong collaboration, clear communication, and commitment to teamwork and instructional excellence.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assistant Principals are responsible for ensuring that instructional best practices are consistently implemented across classrooms, with a primary focus on pedagogy, instructional effectiveness, and teacher development rather than programmatic decisions. Grade-band-specific responsibilities vary based on developmental and instructional needs.
  • The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the leadership team, and the Principal to identify strengths, gaps, and needs within their grade bands. Assistant Principals must be highly visible in classrooms daily, providing real-time feedback to teachers, gathering instructional data, and reporting findings to the Principal and Directors to inform professional development and instructional strategies.
  • The Assistant Principal plays a vital role in the school’s efforts to sustain a productive school culture/climate that celebrates students and staff, and one that fosters an environment grounded in strong morals and academic excellence. The primary charge for this position is to grow and inspire teachers, staff and students.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in education administration.
  • Pennsylvania teaching and principal certifications.
  • 5 plus years of teaching experience in a K-8 school environment, ideally within an urban setting.
  • School leadership experience at the teacher or administrative level.
